Laser Vein Treatment: What is Involved?

Laser vein treatment has become a popular non-surgical alternative for the effective treatment of many cosmetic vein conditions, and treatments exist which are designed specifically to treat both small “spider” veins and the larger, deeper, bluish reticular veins. In fact, laser vein treatment can be safely used to treat many veins in the legs, face, neck, and chest.

During your laser vein treatment, which typically takes from 15 to 30 minutes to complete, a hand piece is passed over the veins which are being treated, and focused laser energy is directed to the veins beneath the skin. The high energy of the laser beam results in controlled damage to the targeted veins, causing scar tissue to form which blocks blood flow through the vein. Eventually, the treated veins will shrink, fade and usually disappear over time.

Laser vein treatment involves no downtime, and regular activities may be resumed immediately after treatment. For these reasons, it is highly preferred over surgical treatments, which may require general or twilight sedation and a significantly longer recovery period.

The overall cost of laser vein treatment will vary based upon the size and number of veins being treated, and generally ranges from $300-$500 per session.
